Why this exists
Web services advertise one price and charge another: a $2.99/mo plan that quietly renews at $17.99/mo is standard industry practice, and virtually every "review" site ranking these products earns commissions that discourage mentioning it. We built a machine that visits every provider's pricing page daily, records both the advertised and the renewal price, and publishes the history, so the renewal trap is measurable, comparable, and impossible to quietly change.
Who runs it
A small independent research operation. The scraping, diffing, and page generation run unattended on our own hardware; humans review findings, write the editorial, and answer email. We plan to earn affiliate commissions (see disclosure), but grades and rankings are computed from measured pricing alone, and several providers we grade highest pay us nothing.
